DAY 3 (4-minute read – be sure to follow the series)

Catch Up: Day ZeroDay OneDay Two

So yeah…. Make sure you get to the grocery store, so you don’t wake up hungry with no food to eat come Monday morning. We shouldn’t have been THAT lazy yesterday!! Good thing we actually made a plan to head to West End today to get some massages and exploring in. To the office we go but to find a taxi was IMPOSSIBLE due a cruise ship coming to port today! But Yay!! César, are wonderful taxi from the airport, gave us his WhatsApp contact and was immediately available! César was there within 15 minutes and off to West End we go … starving!!!  Cruise traffic and rush hour traffic can be quite lengthy on these single road two-way streets. Be prepared for a bit of stop and go at times!

Note: A taxi to West End is cheaper than going to the luxurious West Bay. If you want to go to West Bay, take a water taxi for $5 per person from West End. Plus, it is a really pretty and relaxing boat ride.

Arriving in West End, we stopped in at the Crazy Bean Coffee Shop for breakfast. We were sooooo starving at this point. What an amazing breakfast, and crazy good coffee. Sorry, no food pictures, it was inhaled rather quickly.  I highly recommend this coffee shop (in fact we went back again later in the week). Both times I enjoyed the iced caramel macchiato, and they even had soy or almond milk as a dairy free option!! Oh, and let’s not forget the desserts. O-M-Deeeeeelicious!!! We split an indulgent piece of crumb cake and I enjoyed every last crumb!!!

O-M-Deeelicious!

After breakfast we hopped on a water taxi to West Bay where the Kao Kamasa Spa is located in the Grand Roatan Resort to see if we could get in some pampering. We were in luck, one pedicure, one neck and shoulder massage and one deep tissue massage available exactly at the moment we walked in (and yes, it was pure luck). I recommend attempting to contact the spa more than one night a head of time if you do not have cellular service while on the island. Although Wi-Fi is available in several places, limited communication makes scheduling your pampering a bit difficult.

This spa is definitely a place to get pampered. When booking a treatment, they make all of their amenities available to you. Which includes beautiful showers, steam rooms, hot and cold spas/pools and an outdoor infinity pool with an amazing view into the ocean surround by the jungle. So quaint!  I enjoyed the hot spa prior to my deep tissue massage.  Serena was the awesome! I came out of my massage and joined my friends in the outside pool and just chilled for a few.  I wish we spent a little more time here to relax and enjoy. This is definitely a “do it again” activity when I return.  As a matter of fact, I think staying on the West End or in West Bay is going to be the next destination.

SO relaxing!

After the Spa, we took the water taxi back and met up with César as we pre-planned. A stop at Eldon’s grocery store and we were all stocked up for the rest of the week. Bungalow bound with a plan of home cooked (store bought) spaghetti for dinner! Yum!

Tomorrow, we pre-planned a few dives with the local shop, so we have to be up early and ready to go in the morning. At the dive shop by 8am! Sweet dreams let’s go diving in the morning!! 🤿
