I flew the “red eye” out of Phoenix to Miami. Check in was simple but remember that “Verify” app? If I had that completed prior to check in I would not have had to fumble with my paper documents showing my negative test results/vaccine. The flight from Miami, Florida (for my second leg) was less than 2 hours! I had the added bonus of meeting up with my friend during this layover and my continued travel was together! So great to catch up!!
It is always exciting to see the edge of the island appear and hear the beautiful Caribbean Sea call to you as you touchdown 😍😍.

Customs was fairly easy, and the immigration form was provided on the aircraft. While standing in line someone checked my COVID papers (vaccine or negative test) along with verifying I was in possession of my passport. Funny, a printed copy of my “Digital” vaccine card was just fine, it was not questioned. Next was the customs booth where my passport and fingerprints were scanned and my photo taken. The hardest part was just waiting to get through. I collected my luggage, handed over my immigration form, someone verified my luggage tags (so keep those accessible) and dropped my luggage through the security scanner. It was extremely simple to immediately hop into a taxi. We were heading to our beach house – Easy Peasy!
The native language is Spanish on Roatan, but the majority know enough English to get you exactly where you want to go. Lempira is the currency, but the USD is widely accepted. (A little side note, I believe this would be a great area to bring education of cryptocurrency to!) This is a tourist’s island with many services, so tips are always welcome and very appreciated. This time we are staying at Palmetto Bay, where we rented a VRBO Beach Bungalow.
A Quaint three bedroom, two bath, fully furnished bungalow is short walk from The Cove restaurant and bar, along with the pool and beach. Time to settle in and enjoy the pool!

I thoroughly enjoyed a “welcome drink” at the bar, a choice of a Rum Punch or local beer, I chose the Rum Punch, yum! Also another happy reunion, one other a part of our dive group, my “Dive Buddy”, was at the pool waiting our arrival! So great to see her after three years!! Later on we had a delicious dinner at The Cove and then off to bed!
Sorry, the pictures faded into the background after a few Rum Punches LOL! Tomorrow is another day!
