Wonderwrit 5

Feeling the cool rush of wind, gliding effortlessly through the skies, gazing upon every tree, rock and stream that is touched with a magical glow. Senses heightened as every detail can be seen with astonishing clarity, from the smallest blade of grass to the grandest castle of the realm. The scent of wildflowers fill the nostrils and the faint whispers of the creatures below echo through the mountainous bark of colossal trees. With every flight, a sense of wonder and awe flows like digital code through the plumage of brown, gold and white feathers of a majestic wingspan. This is the feeling every Talonshark now experiences in the Realm of Decrypting Khaos.

Perched high above in the treetops of the deep southeastern Evermore Woodlands, the noble Timberjaw, father to all Talonsharks, surveys the endless growth and enduring beauty around him. The sheer magnificence of his appearance with his muscular legs, sharp hooked beak and razor-sharp talons exudes power and grace. An outgoing and confident keeper of the woods, he is firm in his resolve to preserve the natural beauty of Evermore. Yet despite his fierce demeanor he is a social songbird, calling out to other creatures and greeting visitors of the Woodlands, creating a network of individuals and entities into a strong community. His presence is a constant reminder of the resilience and raw power of nature, a symbol of the enduring spirit of the Realm.

In the Evermore Woodlands, the forest floor is blanketed in a thick layer of rich, loamy soil, dotted with delicate wildflowers and vivacious ferns. The air is thick with the sweet scent of blooming honeysuckle and with each rising sun there is a moment of divine awakening. As the first rays of light pierce the horizon, each sunrise bathes the sky in golden yellow and Timberjaw is rejuvenated with the desire to embrace the dawn of a new day. Yet Timberjaw was not a creature born to Evermore, instead he was transfigured by its heavenly wilderness.

In the Talonshark heritage, Timberjaw was born far below, in the depths of a malevolent chasm, where the murky waters concealed all manners of danger and unknown terrors. A hypnotic creature of the shadows, his torpedo-shaped body was built with pure strength, allowing him to move swiftly through the water. His skin was covered in thick, dark scales that provided both protection and camouflage in the dimly lit depths he called home. Timberjaw was a fearsome creature, prepared for adversity around every turn of the tide. Trapped in a never-ending battle of struggle and consumed by a powerless urge of temptation, he had a powerful instinct that was difficult to control and was constantly on the move for survival. The risks he undertook were sometimes reckless, but the overwhelming desire to escape the deep abyss was an all-consuming distraction.

He was trapped in an eternal pit of darkness, until one day, Timberjaw staggered upon a fracture of light at what appeared to be a surface. Was there actually a surface above the dark hole he only knew as his existence? Piercing through the veil of blackness with mesmerizing brilliance, he was both intrigued and wary of its luminescence. With a spark of blue, and a flash of orange, the fracture shook the viscous world around him! Prepared for mayhem, he readied himself, but the waters stilled and the light dimmed yet the cosmic aura remained. Timberjaw waited in angst, prepared for an epic battle that did not come. He felt the pull of the black abyss current behind him, but an overwhelming wave to break free of his malicious world washed over him.

Invigorated with the craving for something otherworldly, Timberjaw began to aggressively strike the fracture in the surface, slamming into it over and over again with all his might, feeling the allure of a cosmic emergence. The facia began to widen, giving him hope that a new world awaited his vigor and imagination. With the loud roar of a cannon and the blinding light of a shooting star, the fracture exploded upward creating a large hole and Timberjaw emerged into a blinding but crisp new atmosphere. Heavy water circled around him, with sea life swirling in a typhoon of khaos rising above to an earth-like foundation in the middle of nowhere. Timberjaw transformed in the confusion with his scales rippling into feathers, his jaws elongated into a beak and fins stretched into wings.

With his talons dug deep into the soil, Timberjaw let out the piercing cry of an eagle as he felt the oceanic depth of the shark within. In his new form as king of the sky, he felt bolstered by his magnitude but then suddenly humbled by a large, unknown lizard-like form before him. Used to fighting for his life, Timberjaw stepped back, ready for a duel. But the reptilian just looked on, with resounding confidence and no signs of confrontation. In defiance of the unfamiliar light, Timberjaw plummeted back into the comfort of darkness, his body convulsing back into the slippery form of shadows, looking back at the light above drifting away. In that moment, Timberjaw knew he was destined for more than the obscurity he was born into.

With the courage of all the worlds that may lay before him, Timberjaw willingly rose back into the light with the brilliant streaks of organge and blue once again encompassing the typhoon surrounding him as he transfigured into the majestic monarch of flight. Talons gripping the earth for life and wings spread wide ready for take off, Timberjaw let out a glorious roar of vitality. With a mighty whip of his wings, Timberjaw rose above the realm, once again noticing the monstrous being below witnessing his new beginning.

As Timberjaw soared, the thickets below swept past and the sun sank below the western horizon with the scorching heat of its rays gradually giving way to the cool embrace of the moonlit dimness. Mother Nature’s call and internal instinct beckoned him down from his soaring heights as the vibrant hues faded into a spectrum of gray. Timberjaw, still feeling the temptation of twilight, descended to a rocky vantage point where the wicked would not dare to prowl. With his new found keen senses he once again noticed the chameleon below. The stealthy Monster kept a watchful eye, patrolling the landscape, waiting for Timberjaw to become sober to his new world of opportunity. It slowly began to ascend the rocky terrain, working to gain Timberjaw’s confidence with every step. After reaching the rugged summit, they remained in silence for some time, admiring the triumphant canopy of the Woodlands.

The Monster’s sleek skin was a warm, rustic blend of nature, resembling the flare of terracotta clay. Its back bore diminutive yet sturdy prehistoric wings, while iridescent frills lined its spine which danced in the moonlight like musical art. With its seven eyes and iron horns, Timberjaw envisioned the creature as a skilled scout, capable of detecting both threats and opportunities with remarkable expertise. Around its neck was a woven hoop, decorated with feathers and beads, like a filter to capture the bad while allowing the good to pass through. As time passed in their silence, the sky became luminescent with a myriad of colors and small potholes of light could be seen spread across the land, like a map of enticing gateways to other worlds. Timberjaw was awestruck with his new surroundings, but the creature beside him set him at ease as he took in the new lands, ready to start a new life.

As the sun began to rise, without a word, the Monster disappeared down the ridge and melted into the Evermore Woodlands, as if it was never there. Exhaustion overtook him and Timberjaw intuitively sought out the Eldertree, the oldest and most revered tree in Evermore, and constructed a majestic nest worthy of royalty. Days passed as he adapted to his new life, exploring the Woodlands in all directions and gathering treasures for his majestic nest. Timberjaw frequently pondered the mysterious Monster who shared his first night in Evermore on the ridge, contemplating its whereabouts and recalling the map of illuminated potholes on the night floor. Strangely, each time he thought of the seven-eyed scout, he sensed a presence, as if he was being watched.

As Timberjaw continued to venture out and build his new life, he started to notice bizarre creatures appearing along his path. One day while flying high above a clearing among the trees, he observed a bright light, like a beacon of hope, dancing among the thick branches. Timberjaw descended and saw the light to be a torch, held by a unique creature that easily blended in with the bark of the trees. It had thick, stump-like legs with branching arms, wide eyes and a large, goofy smile. The bark Monster wore a camouflage hat with lures and tassels attached, along with a bland green vest with several pockets, as if it had attempted to conform to another world prior to its arrival here. Timberljaw swiftly flew past the Monster and began to circle back for a second glance. As he approached the area the Monster had vanished like the melding of camouflage, but left behind the torch stuck in the ground, waiting for Timberjaw to claim it. This extraordinary gift was a small orb that glowed with an everlasting brilliance, casting a warm and comforting light that banished the darkness and provided Timberjaw with an unshakable sense of security and protection.

A few days later, while resting on a low branch above a dense garden of vegetation, Timberjaw spotted movement in the distance. A large, green, one-eyed Monster stood like a giant sprout at the edge of the garden. Similar to the previous Monster, this sprouted creature wore a yellow helmet, with a striped shirt and red suspenders to hold up brown trousers, as if it unexpectedly materialized from an unknown peculiar place. Timberjaw caught the shimmer of something shiny in the Monster’s hand but heard a rustle in the woods behind him, turning his attention. In less than an instant, Timberjaw refocused his awareness back to the garden Monster, but in that mere millisecond, it disappeared into thin air, as if it had returned to the very earth it had appeared to have grown from. Where the Monster once stood a golden token shimmered like a precious gem amongst the lush green foliage in the sunlight. Timberjaw lifted the token, the weight of the lustrous gold metal heavy in his grasp, tracing his claw over the intricate carving of the word “Monsters” on one side and the mysterious marking “M2” on the other. With uncertainty surrounding any significance of this medallion, except the fact it was left behind by the enigmatic creature, Timberjaw sensed powers within the medallion and tucked it away for a rainy day.

The next day, while settled on a rock above a picturesque scene of crystal clear water reflecting the surrounding trees and blue sky above, watching the occasional fish jump out of the calm surface of an enchanted lagoon, a head emerged in the gentle ripples. The Monster blended in with the blue hues of water, with small patches of algae like freckles on its skin, wearing only a silver chain with a large spherical charm dangling around its neck. With a gentle nod of its head the Monster gracefully dipped beneath the surface, causing the ripples to dissipate into the tranquil waters. After a short pause, Timberjaw turned to leave and was drawn to a silver sparkle atop a rock at the edge of the water. As he picked up his newfound treasure, he couldn’t help but notice its striking similarity to the one he just saw around the Monster’s neck. It was a sturdy silver compass etched with the words “Adventure Awaits * Travel Safe” encircling the edge.

Time and time again, Timberjaw experienced these curious circumstances leaving Timberjaw with the impression these Monsters were surveilling his habits, noting any necessities. A different Monster flashing in and out of existence, leaving behind gadgets and equipment to assist him with his growth and construction. With the eternal torch of light, the Wayfinder Compass, M2 Token and more, Timberjaw’s confidence grew and so did his inquisitiveness about these gadgets. Then the day came, roosted high in his royal nest, Timberjaw’s keen eyesight caught a glimpse of a familiar figure in the distance. Excitedly he swooped down from his nest to greet the Monster who witnessed his rebirth, eager to learn of the treasures he had collected. The Monster exchanged pleasantries, and introduced himself as Terrasept, a Monster of the Sylts species from many galaxies away.

Suddenly, Terrasept turned a serious gaze on Timberjaw and said “It is time”. Timberjaw ruffled his feathers with puzzled bewilderment at this statement and stared at Terrasept hanging on to what was to follow. Terrasept explained how the Monsters had indeed been observing Timberjaw’s progress, supplying equipment for him to better his livelihood and become a strong leader within the Evermore Woodlands. Terrasept shared the news of creatures that would soon be arriving in the Woodlands, building their homes and settling in. Timberjaw was tasked with the welcoming and education of these new lifeforms in the ways of the Decrypting Khaos Realm. As Terrasept departed, Timberjaw felt a sense of pride and fulfillment, but was advised with his leadership and unique abilities, Terrasept would return to seek his aid in the future.

So Timberjaw thrived, completing the tasks set forth by Terrasept, and as the different creatures began to settle in, the Woodlands began to change. Paths emerged, marked by the tracks of animals passing. The once-quiet forest now buzzed with life as creatures went about their daily routines. Even Timberjaw settled down with a beautiful eagle of the Swiftwind species and started a family of his own, working among the mammoth trees, devoted to the growth of Woodlands and all its life.

However, Timberjaw often again pondered Terrasept’s return and what new challenges it might bring. When the day finally arrived Terrasept asked him to gather his Wayfinder Compass and his Monster Medallion before setting out on a path to the original rocky ridge vantage point where they once stared out at the starry night floor. They sat at the top of the ridge, waiting for nightfall as the sky again gradually illuminated with a myriad of colors. Over time the many changes of the Woodlands seemed to have included the glowing map of potholes, which had grown more numerous while faint streaks of pulsing light connected the glowing masses scattered on the dark floor, like a network of nodes on a digital blockchain.

Terrasept explained each radiant cluster was a portal, an entryway through a sea of tunnels to different worlds, all interconnected through technology. They made their way to the deep black hole that Timberjaw originally broke free from, and as they drew closer the Monster Medallion began to vibrate with energy. This was the key to activating the gateway, allowing Timberjaw, with his ability to morph into a creature of shadows, to dive deep into the dark abyss with the Wayfinder Compass to guide him safely through. No longer would he be consumed by the shadows, but emerge on the other side to fight battles and bring peace to other worlds, just as Timberjaw had brought to the Evermore Woodlands. This was the monumental moment Timberjaw became the Gatekeeper of the Evermore Woodlands in the Decrypting Khaos Realm.
