BIG SHOUTOUT to our Sponsor @FomoHead for the prize donations!!
Many have asked, “Who inspired Positive Pollination”? And I would like to share this simple but heartwarming story of the beginning….
During the NFT Connect Live in Austin, many Bees had traveled to TX to participate in the amazing event. At the same time, @Crypto_Swarm was hosting its famous 24/7 Spaces. However, some of the usual Space Hosts were unavailable and substitute Bees started stepping in to Host instead.
One afternoon, EZ Ed was hosting a space. There was a little uncertainty in his voice as it did not seem that he was used to doing the spaces, especially as a co-host. But he was definitely putting his best foot forward and working through it. He was genuine with his small talk and kept the conversation going in various ways. He let others in the space know they were welcome to come up and speak.
Shortly after, an unknown Twitter participant came up as a speaker. Doing a quick click and search on the new speaker revealed almost no followers, not a lot of posts and seemed like they may be one of those spoof accounts just looking to prank the space. OH NO! I think everyone in the space was holding their breath as EZ Ed welcomed them and asked what they had to say.
A small voice came out, but the words were inaudible. EZ Ed asked them to repeat and once again it sounded garbled. I immediately judged the new speaker as a jokester and was expecting them to be booted off in just a moment as I’ve seen most other spaces do. But EZ Ed was much more in tune than I. He paused, and softly encouraged the speaker to continue on and give us all a few words on who they were.
The small voice finally came through, struggling terribly to get the words out, and they stated they were young and terrified to speak, but really wanted to learn about NFTs. OMBeeee my heart exploded with both shame at myself for judging too quickly and pride for my fellow Bee. EZ Ed handled the entire situation with class, empathy and true Bee principles.
EZ Ed, continued a brief conversation with the nervous speaker, making them feel comfortable enough to carry on for just a few sentences. To listen in on this sweet conversation, I could hear the excitement of this new speaker for finally being acknowledged by someone (I have a feeling they had been booted off of other spaces when they tried to speak before).
I truly believe this one simple, but uplifting action by EZ Ed, most likely further sparked this person’s enthusiasm for Web 3/NFTs and also gave them confidence to try speaking more in the future. It was a soul-warming experience to listen in on.
Later, I described this experience to others, which then turned into a conversation about acknowledging those who spread positive pollination in various ways. EZ Ed began it, and I hope to carry it on.
