Happy New Year, everyone! I hope your New Year’s Eve was as fantastic as mine, filled with laughter, joy, and the warmth of family and siblings. I will always be grateful for my khaotic sisters! Before the clock struck midnight, I made a conscious decision to limit any alcohol consumption, setting the tone for a strong and purposeful January 1st.
The last few months leading up to the New Year were not the healthiest for me, indulging in desserts and vices, but today marks the beginning of a new chapter. I am ready for a healthy change, a fresh start, and a future filled with brightness.
Mindful Monday: A Foundation for Success
Today is a Mindful Monday – a day dedicated to being aware of my goals and laying a solid foundation for the journey ahead. In the khaos of life, practicing mindfulness allows for a slow and easy adaptation to habitual tasks. It’s about making conscious choices, being mindful of the food consumed, managing distractions, and successfully juggling time.
Hydration is a pivotal point in my mindfulness practice; after all, it’s a vital component of overall well-being. Taking ME time is non-negotiable – a necessary moment to ensure I’m included in my own priorities. I’m also mindful of what makes me truly happy, which is an integral part of this health quest.
Even my fur-babies are joining the adventure. Walking my dogs becomes not just a chore but a mindful activity, ensuring they, too, benefit from this transformative quest and strengthen the bond of our pack.
Equipment, Tools, and Apps: My Health Arsenal
In the khaos of health and fitness, I rely on an arsenal of tools and apps to guide me:
- MyFitnessPal App (Food log)
- Sleep Cycle App
- Zero (Intermittent Fasting App)
- Apple Health & Apple Watch (Activity, Stand, Exercise goals – Rings on Apple Watch)
- NordicTrack Treadmill & Rower
- LuluLemon/Peloton Mirror
- Free weights
- The great outdoors
Preparation: Setting the Stage for Success
In the midst of embracing this health and fitness journey, thorough preparation becomes my secret weapon. The journey to success begins with a proactive approach, involving essential steps to ensure a seamless transition. Armed with a mindful intent, I embark on the quest by securing vital vitamins, consciously planning and prepping nourishing meals, and strategically scheduling out my week. To stay on track, friendly reminders are set for regular water consumption, and the Sleep Cycle app becomes a trusted ally, guiding me with timely cues for a restful night. This thought-out preparation lays the groundwork for a harmonious blend of structure and flexibility, fostering an environment where my health goals can flourish, and cluttered tasks in my head get organized ahead of time.
Weekly Check-In: Tracking Progress
Every Monday, I’ll share a completed #FitnessKhaos Check-In form which will assist to keep me accountable and motivated. This original January 1st form (see below) documents my starting measurements for the New Year of 2024. Every Monday the #FitnessKhaos Check-In Form will be completed, documenting all successes and failures within the week, along with a focal point and mantra for the week. This week, I embraced the powerful mantra,
“I am here. I am grounded. I am grateful. I am exactly where I am meant to be. I take care of the future by taking care of the present moment”
as my daily touchstone, a compass guiding me through life’s labyrinth, focusing on mindfulness. In moments of khaos, it serves as a reminder to anchor myself in the present, to be fully immersed in the now. Grounding myself in this mantra cultivates a profound sense of gratitude, appreciating the beauty of each moment and recognizing that every step forward is a manifestation of a healthful alignment. By acknowledging and nurturing the present, I am, in essence, safeguarding the future. It is a declaration of intention to care for my well-being today, fostering a path of mindfulness and purpose that echoes into the future I aspire to create.
Conclusion: Gradual Transformation and Consistency
I’m not rushing into major lifestyle changes all at once. Instead, I’m preparing to gradually elevate my health a little at a time. For now, I’ll consolidate goals like walking 15K steps to hit my 500-calorie burn target and achieving the 30-minute exercise goal. As I build strength and stamina, I’ll progressively conquer each goal individually.
My dietary adjustment includes a 16:8 intermittent fasting goal, with 2-3 nutritious meals and no eating after 7:00 pm. My sleep goal is set at 9:30 pm. Life may throw curveballs, but I’m mindful that consistency is key. I refuse to let excuses derail me; if life knocks me down, I’ll jump back on the roadmap I’ve planned out.
Here’s to a New Year filled with health, good fortune, and a mindful approach to the khaos life may bring. Cheers to raising our water bottles and to the journey ahead! #FitnessKhaos.
