Greetings, wonderful readers! 🌟 Happy Monday! As expected, this past week was a wild dance with the khaos of never-ending workdays, a bit of Monster Mobbing on X with @MonsterMyCity, and the ongoing quest to make sense of my fitness journey – the struggle was real. The scale might have whispered sweet nothings, but who knew an ankle could throw its own twist into the mix? And that positive to negative mantra, that was a tough one we may need a ‘do over’ on. Let’s break down the highs, the hurdles, and the humor that is my Health Quest!
(actual progress)
Check-in:Overestimated My Capacity
A month in and BOOM! 💥 Reality Check: I may have overpacked my goal suitcase. My average activity dropped below 500 calories burned due to three days of missed exercise (just walking). It looks like I forgot my watch at home ( I did not) over the weekend for the amount of steps that are missing from the 15K goal!! At the beginning, nine simple goals sounded like a buffet, but turns out, it was like a gourmet challenge. The realization hit – time to declutter and tackle one goal at a time. Tracking progress in all aspects while using multiple apps, or lack thereof, started causing midnight ponderings and affecting my beauty sleep. Life is not meant to be an anxiety-driven planning session! It’s all about creating better habits, while also replacing the bad ones. So… enter the adaptability mantra!
Adaptability
Adapting is the name of the game this week, and may be for a few more weeks. 🐇🕳️ Taking a dive into the human brain (yes, I rabbit hole!) I’m focusing on one goal at a time. It’s about forming habits that seamlessly blend into my routine. Let’s make healthy behaviors so ingrained that they become second nature. Resisting the insanity of over tracking, a wave of positivity is in motion. Recognizing the cosmic nudge delivered by my ankle’s unexpected strain, it’s evident that a change in my workout routine is overdue. Welcome strength training! I hope to bid farewell to ankle challenges, but brace yourself for the muscle soreness symphony – 🎻 my every muscle will be assisting in the composition of a heavyweight concerto, and, let’s be honest, you’ll hear me playing the violin about it! Yet, this instance is a reminder to heed the advice from last week’s article, turning setbacks into opportunities for positive transformation.
This Week’s Focus: Sip, Sip, Hooray!
The most basic is often the most elusive – HYDRATION! 💦 Confession time: I forget to drink water throughout the day, then end up chugging like a champ at night, leading to a restless sleep. It’s like my bladder is hosting its own late-night fitness class, complete with repeat trips to the restroom – talk about a workout! So the new game plan? 8 oz at wake up, 8 oz before leaving home, 8 oz pre-lunch warm up, 8 oz rush hour distraction, 8 oz pre-dinner appetizer, 8 oz before bedtime. This combined with the additional water added to shakes, coffee, tea and other drinks, should get me spot on or above my 66 oz recommended daily goal. By mid-February, this routine should be etched into my subconscious. A sipping routine to make water a lifestyle? Count me in! Cheers to hydration, the first of many ingrained habits.
Note: We discuss this constantly on Wellness Wednesday X Space with @niteowl1015, it’s time to put this strategy to the test! Join us every Wednesday at 12:00pm Eastern!

Conclusion: Proud Progress
Despite the khaos, I’m proudly patting myself on the back for the strides made this month already. Identifying hurdles and breaking them down, and the continued momentum of striving for betterment. The journey is a process of constant learning. Eliminating all alcohol? A game-changer. The pro-longed foggy weekend mornings are a thing of the past. Especially with age, it was exhausting taking an entire weekend to overcome one night of average social alcohol consumption! I might not feel like a superhero (yet), but the journal-like magic of this blog will continuously remind me of just how far I’ve come. Here’s to another week of health, fitness, and gaining momentum!

Kombucha is a fermented beverage made from sweetened tea that undergoes a natural fermentation process. This ancient drink is produced by introducing a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY) to the tea, leading to the conversion of sugars into organic acids and gasses. The result is a lightly effervescent drink with a slightly tangy flavor, often appreciated for its potential probiotic benefits and unique taste profile.
