If you have read some of my prior posts, you’ll know that I am new to the NFT World. I’m slowly learning how to navigate thru all of it and sharing my rookie experiences along the way.
I first started with joining the Socialbees.io Community. I bought my very first NFT, a BEE, from the secondary market, Opensea. Right from the start, I felt welcomed to the SBU Community, lots of friendly and helpful people, and lots of informative shows they offered. What a great start – I was excited! They are so much fun, you should check out the Social Bees page to read more about who they are, what they offer and how they are ready to change the world.
Being that my first NFT and Community was successful, I decided to explore other Communities. I found a few others that seemed interesting with good websites and decent information. A LOT of hype on Twitter from them about having huge discord followings and of course their upcoming Mint dates. All the stuff that I thought was needed, seemed to be there.
I was not familiar with the start-up process and this “Whitelisted” thing. I felt dumb for not knowing, but hey, everyone starts somewhere. I began learning about the steps for that and unfortunately, I had a horrible exposure to another side of NFTs = Scams! It made me realize just how new I was. It also made me stop, go back to reading a bit more, and regroup before making any moves (Read about the SCAM here).
I choose to wait for the public minting vs. being whitelisted. The price difference was not huge and frankly I found the whole WL stuff rather annoying. Maybe I just wasn’t that into the project. I get why they do it, but again, I’m new and don’t have 5 million friends (exaggeration) to tag, or time to RT 8 million tweets, or the desire to play a gazillion silly games. I tried, sort of, but typically, I’m more of a straight-forward, give me the facts, let me evaluate, and let’s get down to business type of person.
Presale Minting becomes available. I watch as they post several times on Twitter about the sales for those “lucky enough” to be WL. Then finally us “peasants” (jk) are able to mint. I buy one. I am excited since it is my first time Minting and of course, you don’t know what you are getting. The reveal is the biggie to me. It’s like having a present sitting under the Christmas tree and waiting, waiting, waaaaiiiiiiitttting to find out what it is – 😬😬😬😬.
Alright! The first two days of minting have gone pretty well. They sold about 60%. Although honestly, I kinda thought they would have sold out quickly with them touting about all their followers and discord members of 30k+. But I noticed the Tweets have died down… where is all that hype? What is going on? Oh, and btw, how quickly will they reveal? I start to realize that the website and such didn’t have as much info as I thought they did and how important having a solid Roadmap published is critical. Their discords were confusing, and info was lacking. Hmmmm, another stupid rookie mistake. So now I become a stalker. I have alerts on for all of their accounts, but I still find myself constantly going to their social media spaces to check anyway aaaaaannd… nothing. Crickets. Have I been duped?
Good news is no, they are still chugging along. Hoping they sell out soon and we finally get our reveal. But that HUGE discord following, that Twitter account with thousands of followers… all of it is nothing when you don’t have support from your Community to manage it correctly. It leaves people like me, newbies trying to “get in” the NFT world, still off on the side lines and feeling lost. I AM your target audience. I WANT to buy more NFTs. I WANT to bring in friends and family. But many of the Hyped Projects fall flat and… well they fail at managing what they are doing. I had hopes, but this once again leaves me to plug the one and only Socialbee.io as my number one. Keep rocking it BEES!
