The more I dive into the NFT and Crypto world, the more I come to really appreciate those at Socialbees.io. SBU Community Management is truly the best. Here is my story as to why:
Please note, this is to help others avoid scams like these. I am not disclosing who this happened with as I am sure this is not their intentions but speaks to why I feel community management is so important.
For those that are experts in the Crypto/NFT world, this may all seem silly. But for those just starting out, you will probably relate. My gratitude for SBU grew after an incident last night. I am savvy enough to get around but not experienced enough to fully understand many of the processes in buying more NFTs and joining other communities. I look around, do some research, google some more and then start to jump in to see what I find … and boy did I learn a valuable lesson!
It started with another community I saw on Twitter that popped up. I went to their account and liked what I saw, and besides that, they had OVER 30k followers – WHOA! That grabbed my attention. So, I went to their website and really liked the little bit there I was reading over too. Seemed solid, good values and checked off many things for me. They were also just getting ready to mint and I wanted in! I wanted my second NFT – Woohoo! But you had to be “Whitelisted”. This was new to me (bought my first NFT on Opensea) … but Ok, let’s see where it goes.
Moving around on their website, the only option about purchasing was to click on a PRESALE link. After checking around again, I finally clicked it. Immediately it invited me to join their discord. Hmmmm, I was looking for presale info, but alright, I’ll join since I want to see what this community is like. What are they chatting about? Are they friendly? Helpful? Informative?
Into the discord I go aaaaand what a cluster! First thing is agree to the rules, ok, done. Then … nothing. Everything I look at is locked. I cannot join any chat to ask questions, I cannot join anything at all. Why? Well because in order to do anything, I have to first invite 3 other friends to join the discord. And I’m not even sure if that will “unlock” access to other stuff. Nowwwww I see why they have 30k members. You are forced to do this, and as a newbie, it is not the welcome I was looking for. I don’t know or understand enough of this. I have not been following them on Twitter long enough to maybe see other tweets that gave instructions. Just no direction on how/what to do. It made me feel like the company was more interested in getting their “Hype” vs. actually caring about the individuals. I was a number to add to their claim to fame. Maybe I missed some stuff, I am new to all this, but it was just confusing – UGGG!
SCAM ALERT!
What was worse is after being in the discord for just a few minutes trying to figure things out (since I was locked out of everything anyway) I received 2 direct messages that appeared to be from them … Huh? I opened up one and to my surprise it says I was Whitelisted and could buy now on the early sales at 0.01 ETH. GREAT! But wait a second… I go back to their Twitter and yes, you have to be WL to buy now, but they say 0.02 ETH on Twitter. They are also hyping that they sold a bunch in the first few minutes, so I am feeling anxious that I might miss out! Back to the messages… I pull up the second message and this one too tells me I have been WL and can mint now at 0.093 ETH. Both these messages had a special link to go mint at asap. My spide-y senses are now tingling.
HELP! I wanted so badly to ask for help from them. I went to Twitter and replied to their post and several other people advised those messages were a scam. Imposters trying to get me to click on the link and ultimately, I would buy nothing, just simply transfer my ETH to an unknown, or worse maybe have my digital wallet hacked – IDK! But nothing from the Company themselves, I can’t get to anyone in discord because I’m locked out until I invite others… or maybe donate my left kidney, or whatever hoops I have to jump through. I became extremely nervous and decided I now wanted out as fast as I wanted in! I left discord, disconnected the from the server and as a new customer, I now left purchasing any of their NFTs. It was disappointing and scary. I actually woke up in the morning and kept checking my wallet to make sure I didn’t somehow lose everything. This is possibly why many people hold off on joining the crypto world altogether.
This brings me to Social Bees Community.
I guess I was spoiled with them being my first NFT and Community adventure. They set the bar very high when it comes to your experience in joining. Once I decided to explore them, it was so easy! I researched, liked what I saw and when I joined their discord… you’re in. That’s it! No extra steps, no crazy shenanigans – full transparency. I jumped right into their chat room and they always have mods ready to answer questions. You can scroll through and see what the community has been chatting about, the conversation types they are having and make sure it is a good fit. Then they also make sure you are aware of several shows they have. They will guide through whatever you need to make sure you feel welcomed, safe and part of the family. More importantly, they make sure their discord community is protected. There were no random scammers. They have clear info on the website and people always available to chat. I have seen several shows too. Lots of great info that has assisted me tremendously. Thank you Social Bees University for making me realize my first experience is the way it should be. Otherwise, I may not have recognized the scam!
